Teófilo Gautier en la tradición vampírica
Abstract
Resumen: El siguiente artículo se divide en dos partes: la primera trata sobre la vida de Teófilo Gautier, autor francés poco conocido en México, y la segunda es un análisis de su texto vampírico más antologado: La muerta enamorada. En esta parte se analizan los elementos que tienen que ver no sólo con el vampirismo, sino otros que le dieron una personalidad definida a los siguientes textos inmersos en esta tradición, como el romanticismo, la seducción, la lucha entre el bien y el mal, la femme fatale y la figura del padre Serapión que se vuelve emblemática, pues es el antecedente del Dr. Van Helsing, el mismo que mató a Drácula.Palabras clave: Teófilo Gautier, vampirismo, femme fatal, seducción. Abstract: This paper is divided in two partes: the first of it explores Theophile Gautier's life, a French writer little known in Mexico; the second of it analyses his text "The beloved Death", which appears in most anthologies. The paper deals with elements related not only with vampirism, but others that gave a defined personality to the next texts interwined in the tradition, such as romanticism, seduction, struggle between good and evil, femme fatale. Also, the figure of father Serapio becomes emblematic, because it is the direct antecedent of Dr. Van Helsing, who killed Dracula.Keywords: Theophile Gautier, vampirism, femme fatal, seduction.Downloads
