Abstract

The death drive or Thanatos is a problematic notion with which Freud is forced to acknowledge that his previous theories do not hold up.Lacan rethought the Freudian death drive guided by his intuition of the relationship of subject’s lack with the death. This text provides a critical review of the contribution of Freud and seeks to answer how is that death drive is involved in the onset of invoking drive.
