The double in “Encuentro” by Octavio Paz and “Una ocurrencia incomprensible” by Salvador Elizondo
Abstract
This study contrasts two short stories: "Encuentro" by Octavio Paz and "Una Ocurrencia Incomprensible" by Salvador Elizondo, based on Otto Rank and Juan Bargalló's proposals regarding the double motif in literature. Both texts share the double motif through different mechanisms of doubling, and both showcase violence as an inherent characteristic of the double, leading to the dissolution of identity.Downloads
