The Counterfactual Criterion: Revisiting its Inefficacy and its Circularity

Abstract

In this paper, the assertion that laws support counterfactuals whereas regularities do not is revisited. This is done in order to show that the demarcation criterion between laws and regularities implied by it turns out to be ineffective because it is too weak, on one hand, and too strong, on the other, besides and ultimately it is circular.
