Abstract

This work reviews Jean-Jacques Rousseau’s liberal theses in his central works, particularly in The social Contract, Emilio and Letters written from the mountain. Theanalysis includes Rousseau’s debates with the Encyclopaedists as well as with the religious and politicalpowers of his time, both in France and Geneve.
