Abstract

The playwrite of the early twentieth century, Catalina D'Erzell, en  tered in the theatrical literature with tree mayor works: ¡Esos Hombres…! el Pecado de las Mujeres and La Razón de la Culpa. She proposed a new theatrical theme when included social situations in her works. The new theatrical themes were controversial at the time in the political-social context, such as divorce and cohabilitation. In her work ¡Esos Hombres…! Catalina, thought the decisions of Azucena, the main character at that work, allows us to observe the gender roles, the contradictions that were derived from the ideological clash between customs and the social changes in the post-revolutionary Mexico.
