Abstract

The Latin American avant garde, as a European echo, shows a reinvention of the precepts of such literary movement to the point of sometimes contradicting it. The central theme of this paper is Oliverio Girondo’s case and the use of description in his poetry, in contrast to the doctrine of André Breton’s Surrealistic Manifesto.
