Abstract

The constant breakdown and restructuring of the medico-legal power over diverses identities is emphasized by the changes in gender-related diagnostic categories in each edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (1952-2013) as proposed by psychiatrists in the United States as well as by the Court’s arbitrary use of cases to determine socio-sexual identities in certain people.
