Abstract
En este breve ensayo se reflexiona sobre el proceso narrativo mediante el cual la figura del pirata se convirtió en un icono de libertad, de fuerza, de misterio, de caballerosidad, de desprendimiento, en casi un héroe. Esta imagen es contrastante con la documentación y los estudios históricos que se ocupan de los piratas, en los que se muestran los enormes prejuicios que causaban al comercio y a las ciudades atacadas y saqueadas por ellos. Así, la figura del pirata en el imaginario y en la cultura popular es algo totalmente opuesto a lo que en su momento significó su actividad delincuencial.Downloads
