Critical Analysis: Cantares mexicanos as a Source of Study in Mesoamerican Literature
Abstract
This work conducts a critical review of the oral paradigm of Mesoamerican literature, questioning the compilations, transcriptions, and translations of Bernardino de Sahagún's Cantares Mexicanos, as well as the uses and discourses generated from them. Fragments of these works are analyzed, and Christian elements are identified, leading to a proposed reinterpretation that reconciles the primary sources with the accounts of the compilers.Downloads
