Poetry and violence in three contemporary Mexican writers: Carmen Nozal, María Rivera, and Sara Uribe
Abstract
In this article I will address the representation of violence as the conformation of an aesthetic of resistance in contemporary Mexican literature. Specifically, I will analyze “Las moscas” by Carmen Nozal, “Los muertos” by María Rivera and Antígona González by Sara Uribe. I emphasize the symbolism of flies, performativity and activism in the poem “Los muertos”, as well as the redefinition of the myth of Antigone, in the context of 21st century violence in Mexico. This will allow us to reflect on the aspects of poetry embedded in the political and social sphere of contemporary Mexico.Downloads
