Stages of the Material Publication Process

Stage

Responsible Managers and Actions to be Taken

Times (estimated operation time and total approximate time of the process from acceptance to publication of an article)

Initial reception of materials (articles, reviews, comments, essays, interviews).

All materials must be evaluated by the responsible editor and the technical editor. This is to ensure that the texts adhere to the admitted discursive genres, the journal's editorial criteria, and that they fit the focus of Fuentes. The technical editor checks that the text is original and unpublished with the support of originality reports generated by software (iThenticate). If the material is suitable, the technical editor notifies the author that it is moving to the first round of evaluation.

72 hours to confirm text or send amendments.

Submission of materials to the first round of evaluation.

The materials are sent for preliminary review by the responsible editor with the support of the technical editor. At all times, the editorial team will ensure that the review is double-blind. The members of the Editorial Committee perform the double-blind preliminary reviews. The preliminary review is sent back to the editorial team, which will value the comments. If the preliminary review is negative, the submission will be rejected. In case modifications are required, they will be communicated in writing to the authors, and a deadline will be given to make the changes. The authors return the text with the amendments, and the technical editor, on behalf of the editorial team, confirms receipt, then sends the texts to the next stage. Reviews, essays, and interviews: move to the acceptance process and subsequent editing. Articles move to the second round.

A minimum of three weeks to prepare the preliminary review. A minimum of one week to prepare the result for the authors. Authors will have a minimum of three weeks to make changes to their text.

Submission of articles to the second stage of evaluation.

The editorial team assigns a minimum of two specialists to review the article. The editorial team will establish communication with the reviewers and guarantee a double-blind evaluation. The reviewers evaluate the quality and relevance of the article for its discipline. The review is sent back to the editorial team, which will value the comments. If both reviews are negative, the article is rejected. When the reviews of the peer evaluators do not coincide in their final decision, the manuscript will be subjected to a third evaluation.

A minimum of three weeks to prepare the review.

Official acceptance of the article and announcement of its publication in Fuentes Humanísticas.

To be published, the submission must receive two favorable reviews (publishable or publishable with modifications). With two reviews that suggest modifications, the editorial team must communicate the changes to be made to the authors, and a deadline will be given to make them. The authors make the changes and send the final version of their article to the journal. The editorial team receives the text, corroborates the sufficiency of the changes, and communicates the official acceptance of the article in writing. The technical editor begins the next stage.

A minimum of three weeks to make corrections.

Editing of the article in Fuentes Humanísticas.

The technical editor coordinates the review of the originals and then sends the text with the changes to the authors for their approval. The authors provide their comments or their approval. The technical editor receives the approval, prepares the text for its formation in PDF and XML, and sends it to the designer. The text is formatted in PDF. The designer sends the proofs to the responsible editor, who does the galley review. The proofs are approved by the responsible editor and are now sent to the authors for their approval. Upon receipt of the authors' approval and the last amendments being made, the technical editor publishes the new issue of the journal.

A minimum of three weeks. One week. A minimum of one month. One week.

Erratum, corrections, or retractions.

The general public can communicate the existence of any erratum or data that merits correction to the email fuentes@azc.uam.mx. The editorial team will attend to the observations and publish the necessary errata or corrections. The general public can also report malpractice to the email fuentes@azc.uam.mx. The editorial team will attend to the complaints and decide whether to retract the article under these criteria: unreliable findings, the work is not unpublished, plagiarism, fraudulent authorship, the integrity of the reviews is compromised, or if there are indications of a lack of research ethics.
