Abstract
Un personaje poco conocido en la historiografía de la guerra de Independencia de México es Bernardo Gutiérrez de Lara, hombre que dirigió a las tropas insurgentes en el noroeste de la Nueva España y fue comisionado por Miguel Hidalgo a dirigirse a Washington en busca de apoyo para la causa independeinte.
